We’re always diving California, so you don’t have to wait for a dive vacation to get some bottom time in! California diving is unique – huge kelp forests, marine mammals that want to interact with us, and our endemic species – and it is in our back yard. We’re always exploring, and can be found in these areas:
- Anacapa and Santa Cruz Islands out of Ventura Harbor
- Monterey Bay
- The Oil Rigs and Wrecks off of San Pedro
- Wreck Diving and Seven Gill Shark trips out of San Diego
- Sea Lion Trips to the Coronado Islands out of San Diego
To find out what’s next contact the shop for our dives out of Ventura.
Discover the hidden gem of San Diego scuba diving – Point Loma.
Often overlooked for its more popular La Jolla and Wreck Alley counterparts, Point Loma boasts a healthier stretch of kelp forests and breathtaking canyon walls. Dive enthusiasts can expect to witness an abundance of sea life and unique kelp forests. The kelp forests here are a stark contrast to those in La Jolla, with denser and more diverse vegetation. You’ll find yourself swimming among schools of fish and curious sea lions in this underwater paradise.
Join us on November 12th for a 2 Tank Dive at just $160, or $150 for Dive Club members, and explore the beauty of Point Loma.

Equipment Service
SCUBA Diving is an equipment-intensive sport. As you move through your dive career, you will accumulate quite a bit of equipment. As Life Support devices, they need to be maintained to ensure your continued safety and enjoyment.
At Channel Islands Scuba, we stand behind the equipment we sell, maintaining a sophisticated, on-site regulator service center, tank visual inspection and hydrostatic testing site, and a high quality air station offering on-site Air, Nitrox, and Oxygen fills.
Scuba regulators are made to be robust pieces of equipment. They need to be able to work in some very hostile environments. Fortunately they are finely tuned pieces of equipment. But they are subject to wear and tear, and on top of that, salt water can be very corrosive.
Here at Channel Islands Scuba we overhaul regulators every day, on-site. We deal with many different brands / models and designs. And we have the training and specialty equipment to ensure your regulator is breathing like it was brand new after every service.
We provide the following regulator services:
- Pre-Trip Function Test – Ensure regulators within service intervals are performing as expected prior to your big trip
- Regulator Full Overhaul – Disassembly, cleaning, service parts replacement, assembly, and tuning
- O2 Service Cleaning – As part of Regulator Overhaul for first stages seeing higher than 40% oxygen.
A divers BCD is ultimately responsible for their positioning in the water. From descents, to neutral buoyancy, controlled ascents and positive buoyancy at the surface, the BCD does all the heavy lifting, so to speak. Unfortunately, a BCD that won’t hold air or one that inflates itself can take a dive from fun to frustrating and even dangerous.
Most divers don’t service their BCDs when they do their Regulators, but they should. Salt water is just as tough on your BCD as it is on the rest of your gear. It’s important to make sure it can keep you safe and having fun.
We provide the following BCD services:
- BCD Check, Clean, Repair – Thorough internal cleaning and removal of salts, operation of dump valves, and pressure check
- Power Inflator Servicing – Disassembly, cleaning, service parts replacement, and assembly
Scuba cylinders are the only piece of dive equipment that is regulated by the U.S. Government. Under DOT regulations, cylinders need to be hydrostatically tested every 5 years, and industry standards require visual cylinder inspections to happen annually.
We do all of our tank service in house including hydrostatic testing, so no more 2 – 4 week turn arounds on your cylinder service. We are PSI-PCI and DOT approved for cylinder inspections and testing. Our DOT Requalifier Inspection Number (RIN) is N186.
We provide the following Cylinder services:
- Visual Inspections (2 day turn)
- Hydrostatic Testing (3 day turn)
- O2 Cleaning and Servicing (3 day turn)
- Cylinder Fills (Air – while you wait; Custom Blends – 1 day turn)
Fish gotta swim, and Divers gotta breathe. We provide fills for standard breathing gases, from Air to 100% Oxygen, including custom Nitrox fills. Our breathing gas filters air out of our compressor to Oxygen Compatible Specifications and is tested quarterly to verify adherence to these standards.
We reserve the right to refuse fill service to any cylinder if we believe it poses a risk to our staff and/or facility.
